Automation basics: local API, CLI, MCP and CDP
Drive profiles from scripts through the local API, the browz command, MCP clients, Playwright or Puppeteer.
The agent serves a local API on 127.0.0.1, port 50333 by default. Every request needs the API token as a bearer token. Requests that do not come from this computer are rejected.
- Open Automate, API and MCP. Choose Show token to copy the token. Rotate token issues a new one and breaks scripts and MCP clients that still use the old one.
- The browz command line ships inside the app at Browz.app, Contents, Resources, browz-agent. It can show status, list and start profiles, and add proxies.
- Point an MCP client at browz-mcp in the same Resources folder. Browz must be open.
- Starting a profile through the API returns its debugPort. Connect Playwright with connectOverCDP, or Puppeteer with puppeteer.connect, to that port on 127.0.0.1.
Hosted or cloud automation is not available. Automation runs on your computer against profiles started by the local agent.
